Bold But Mini

Just because something is “mini” doesn’t mean it can’t have a big impact. This mini skirt is one of my favorite recent additions to my wardrobe. I’ve already loved pairing it with several different tops for varying looks (think denim sleeveless button down for casual daytime and slouchy tee for running errands). I can’t wait to throw on some black tights and a heavier top when the weather starts cooling down.

Speaking of weather, it’s been so hard to dress lately. One day it feels like fall has finally arrived and the next it feels like the hottest day of summer. That’s another reason I really loved this outfit. It let me bring out some of my fall wardrobe while also allowing me to breathe in this humidity. Open toe booties are the perfect transitional shoe and my fringe bag carries over from season to season.

Giving Thanks

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving day! Mine was full of fantastic food, family time, and special drinks! This year I have so much to be thankful for. One of those things is the pretty table setting I made for my family’s Turkey Day meal. It was pretty simple to put together but turned out to have some rustic elegance. I simply picked out a few various pumpkins, sprayed them with some sparkling gold glitter, and arranged them on top of a burlap table runner.

Of course there are many other things I am very thankful for this year. I am so thankful for the friendships I have that continue to grow even when I live miles and miles away from my friends, for the experiences I have had over the past year and the places I have been and seen, and for my family who always supports me no matter what I do.

What are you thankful for this year?

At the beginning of this week the temperature changed drastically. Last week I was riding around in my car with the windows down in short sleeves and yesterday there was snow falling. Although it’s still not cold enough for the snow to stick, I decided to break out some of the warmer pieces in my wardrobe. I just recently picked up this comfy, cozy Free People top that is a mixture of a sweatshirt and a sweater. I’ve decided I will call it my sweat(er)shirt.

TGI Friday

Happy Friday!

I have never met anyone who does not get at least a little excited when it is finally Friday! It’s probably one of the best days of the week. It means that the weekend is finally here and there is light at the end of the tunnel. I spotted this Friday tee at Forever 21 and had to get it. It’s the perfect shirt for a casual Friday look.

Spring 2014

I dream every year about attending New York Fashion Week. Literally, dreams on dreams about sitting along the runway, bouncing my foot to the beat of the music, and watching the beautiful clothes passing by me as I drool. I am so thankful for the internet, because it makes my life much easier. I can stalk the more fortunate who get to attend all of the shows. This year, pinterest and Instagram have made it even more fun for me.

I’ve done plenty of internet browsing throughout fashion week and I’ve got to say, there are some fabulous things coming our way in the spring and summer of 2014. Below, I picked my four favorite collections so far that I really want to get my hands on this year.

Mara Hoffman Spring 2014

Mara Hoffman really blows me away. I mean, over and over again I find myself falling in love with her fabulous prints. It looks like spring 2014 will be no exception. I saw these pieces and I wanted to jump up and down squealing and clapping. I wanted them now. Forget the fact that I said I’m ready for fall- now I’m ready for SPRING! The rainbow colored maxis, pants, and shorts will surely be a sight for sore eyes after a long cold winter. (If we can make it that long)

Diane Von Furstenburg Spring 2014

DVF went wild this year for fashion week. She is such a perfect fashion icon and I don’t believe she can ever do any wrong. If you can look away from the fantastic dresses, shorts, and skirts, you’ll notice that the shoes are equally fantastic.

Whitney Eve Spring Summer 2014

Whitney Port is still what I would call a young and fresh name in the fashion industry, but I would also say that she’s only going to get better with time. I’d love to score some of these pieces for myself. Especially her shorts. Yes, please!

From braided head to knee-high heels with peeking toes, I love everything about the Rebecca Minkoff show and I mean everything.

Tribal Blues

Tribal Blues 2 Tribal Blues 4

It took me FOREVER to find a good maxi dress that fit me well. I know it sounds crazy, but every time I tried on a maxi the length was just super awkward and it was way too short. My heels were playing peek-a-boo and I didn’t like it! When I finally found one (after countless disappointments in the dressing room) that fit I was SO excited. Since then, I’ve built my collection of maxi dresses and now have quite a few hanging in my closet.

This blue tribal-print dress is my newest maxi and it certainly does not have a length problem. Sometimes, I find myself stepping on the bottom because it is so long. Which could be a major problem seeing as the dress is strapless and I keep pulling it down when I step on it. I won’t let that stop me from wearing it, though, because it is so comfortable and quickly being added to the list of my favorite dresses.

Sunday Six: Sunny Style

Spring is here and the sun is shining bright! Minus all of those April showers, that is. Sunglasses are an accessory that you can use year-round, but they are ultra important once things start heating up. I can’t imagine what I would do without my sunglasses.

It took me years to find some that fit me perfectly. I have this weird problem with so many sunglasses that when I smile they move up really high on my face. With the way my cheekbones are, I have to find sunglasses that don’t rest on my cheeks and that can be quite a task. My number one choice for sunglasses are Ray-Ban clubmaster IIs. But, there are so many really fun pairs out there that can add a perfect touch to any outfit.

Sunny Style Sunday Six

  1. Stella McCartney Butterfly Acetate Sunglasses
  2. Jupiter Round Sunglasses from Urban Outfitters
  3. Spitfire ‘BBX’ Sunglasses
  4. Fendi Striped Sunglasses
  5. Ray-Ban Clubmaster II
  6. Tom Ford ‘Nikita’ Cat Eye
