The Maxi Mainstay

Let’s just say I’m pretty much addicted to fashion. My daytime job is in the fashion industry and I am the type who really gets joy in figuring out new outfits and how to make the current trends fit my lifestyle. One of my favorite fashion mainstays is the maxi dress– it’s so comfortable, easy, feminine, and fun.

IM BACK 003

I recently grabbed brunch with my parents downtown and I threw together this little outfit for the occasion. We sat outside at this great local restaurant on their GORGEOUS patio and enjoyed various forms of eggs benedict and a breakfast burrito as it sprinkled all around us. There was something kind of relaxing about eating al fresco even though it was raining all around us.  After, we strolled around downtown and explored a few shops. A maxi dress and a vest are the perfect daytime look for a random Sunday morning adventure.

Guess Who’s Back?

Hi Friends!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve blogged. There have been a lot of changes in my life (including new job, living in a new place, and lots of new adventures). I’ve really missed blogging and I’ve decided to give it another whirl. I’m going to be sharing with you all a little bit of my day-to-day life. Dress Dine Dwell will continue to be a lifestyle blog focusing on fashion, food, and interior design along with other things that inspire me. Thank you all for following along and if there is anything you would like me to share with you, let me know in the comments!

I recently found myself fretting over what to wear to a casual event with one of my good friends. We were going to be outdoors and I wanted to be comfortable in this southern humidity but also look stylish and put together. As I was going through my closet I realized that the answer was right in front of me (in about 5 different forms). I don’t know about you guys but I really, really love this whole romper trend and I would be happy for it to stay around. Rompers are so easy, comfortable, and cool.

This particular romper is one of my favorites. Who could complain about this breezy fabric, loose cut, and feminine print? BCBG just knows how to do it right, and they hit right on target again with this romper. I wanted to get in at least one last wear of this easy-breezy piece before the weather turned cooler and the rompers turned to jumpers.

What do you guys think, is the romper here to stay? Tell me in the comments below!

WINE CROP 004

One of my favorite looks recently has been a matching top and bottom. As soon as I saw this gorgeous Lucy Paris combo I knew it had to be mine. The material is so comfortable that I almost feel like I’m wearing a quilt. Of course the color adds bonus points because this rich hue is the color I’m craving most this fall. Just add leopard print shoes, which are basically considered a neutral at this point, and you’re ready to go.

Sunday Six: Ankle Boots

Fall is here and that means the focus is on pumpkin flavored EVERYTHING, cozy sweaters, and boots to keep your toes warm. One of my favorite styles of boot is the ankle boot. They’re perfect for pairing with a cuffed pant, skirts and dresses, or boot cut denim. (i.e. you can wear them with pretty much any thing)

Of course, there are millions of styles to choose from in prices ranging from low 20’s to a number with a few more zeroes. I’ve picked out my six favorites for this fall. Some of these I’ve already purchased and others are on my lust list and will be finding a nice home in my closet as soon my wallet deems it possible.

Favorite Fall Ankle Booties

1. Twelfth St. By Cynthia Vincent Montana Booties
2. Steve Madden Raspy in Burgundy
3. Jeffrey Campbell Suede Rumble Boot
4. DV by Dolce Vita Pellie Bootie
5. The Laurel Peep Toe Bootie by Kristin Cavallari for Chinese Laundry
6. Frye Deborah Short Booties

Best Dressed: Country Music Awards 2013

When I was a little girl I HATED country music. I have no clue what I was thinking because now I love it… like, a lot! I didn’t really get the chance to watch much of the Country Music Awards last night, but I still managed to pick out my favorite dresses. Below are four of my favorite looks from the red carpet. Jana Kramer was absolutely stunning. The colors in her gown were beautiful and her lip color was fabulous! Of course, the fellas were looking great last night as well (especially Tim McGraw who always looks good to me).

TGI Friday

Happy Friday!

I have never met anyone who does not get at least a little excited when it is finally Friday! It’s probably one of the best days of the week. It means that the weekend is finally here and there is light at the end of the tunnel. I spotted this Friday tee at Forever 21 and had to get it. It’s the perfect shirt for a casual Friday look.

Sunday Six: Tartan Treasures

One of the seasons hottest patterns is tartan, and it can be such a fun style to play with! I love the look of a tartan skirt (mini or pencil) paired with a tee. Tartan can look great on a blazer, a cape, a pair of pumps, or on your accessories. I also love the idea of borrowing from the boys with a tartan bow tie and a white button up paired with boyfriend jeans and pumps. It’s a perfect fall look! Below are my top picks for the tartan trend.

Tartan Treasures

01. F21 BOLD PLAID FLAT

02. DSQUARED2 3/4 LENGTH SKIRT

03. NEW LOOK RED TARTAN CHECK MINI SKATER SKIRT

04. ALICE + OLIVIA DINA TARTAN PUMPS

05. THE CAMBRIDGE SATCHEL COMPANY PLAID LEATHER SATCHEL

06. GITMAN TARTAN PLAID BOW TIE

Do you have any tartan treasures on your fall wish list?

Best Dressed: Emmy Awards 2013

Last night, the red carpet for the 2013 Emmy Awards was covered in beautifully dressed stars. Most actresses opted to wear a concealing, classy, and elegant gown. I really love admiring red carpet looks; they can be so chic and amazing. I love to play dress up and I’m sure that some of the stars have a fabulous time getting their hair, makeup, and nails done. Of course it is a lot of pressure; the media will be blasting you all the next day if you make a fashion faux pas. It seems to me that last night there weren’t too many of those. Below, I’ve picked out my favorite looks.

Kaley Cuoco Emmys 2013   Kaley Cuoco Emmys 2013 2

Kaley Cuoco (Penny from The Big Bang Theory) dazzled in her magenta gown. The silhouette was absolutely stunning! It really showed off her great form, accentuating the right part of her waist. Her jewelery was also fabulous. She opted for an armful of bracelets and some rings, but kept her neck bare. In a moment of sheer brilliance, she really went all the way with the look by putting on some maroon eye shadow. Kaley Cuoco, in my opinion, took the cake for best dressed last night. I would die to wear that gown– so beautiful!

Spring 2014 Part 2

There was so much that I loved from New York Fashion week that I just couldn’t put it all in one post. So, here are three more collections that I’m googly-eyed over.

Nicole Miller Spring 2014

{IMAGES VIA}

I love the leather accents in the Nicole Miller Spring 2014 collection. These clothes look like so much fun and make me want to go out and hit the town. Although the colors don’t exactly scream “spring” and “summer” I am loving every single piece. The shoes are also to die for and I can just hope that I can lay my hands on some of this in 2014.

Rachel Zoe Spring 2014

{IMAGES VIA}

Rachel Zoe has a fantastic eye for fashion and even though her collection has a lot of different aspects, I really love what she has come up with! I am especially crazy about the sequin looks. They were just amazing- so glitzy but laid back at the same time!

Alice + Olivia Spring 2014

{IMAGES VIA}

Alice + Olivia brought a fresh, girlish, and chic collection to New York Fashion Week. I love the structure of the pieces, especially the white top above. The clutches are adorable and would make the perfect finish to any outfit!

Spring 2014

I dream every year about attending New York Fashion Week. Literally, dreams on dreams about sitting along the runway, bouncing my foot to the beat of the music, and watching the beautiful clothes passing by me as I drool. I am so thankful for the internet, because it makes my life much easier. I can stalk the more fortunate who get to attend all of the shows. This year, pinterest and Instagram have made it even more fun for me.

I’ve done plenty of internet browsing throughout fashion week and I’ve got to say, there are some fabulous things coming our way in the spring and summer of 2014. Below, I picked my four favorite collections so far that I really want to get my hands on this year.

Mara Hoffman Spring 2014
{images via}

Mara Hoffman really blows me away. I mean, over and over again I find myself falling in love with her fabulous prints. It looks like spring 2014 will be no exception. I saw these pieces and I wanted to jump up and down squealing and clapping. I wanted them now. Forget the fact that I said I’m ready for fall- now I’m ready for SPRING! The rainbow colored maxis, pants, and shorts will surely be a sight for sore eyes after a long cold winter. (If we can make it that long)

Diane Von Furstenburg Spring 2014

{images via}

DVF went wild this year for fashion week. She is such a perfect fashion icon and I don’t believe she can ever do any wrong. If you can look away from the fantastic dresses, shorts, and skirts, you’ll notice that the shoes are equally fantastic.

Whitney Eve Spring Summer 2014

{images via}

Whitney Port is still what I would call a young and fresh name in the fashion industry, but I would also say that she’s only going to get better with time. I’d love to score some of these pieces for myself. Especially her shorts. Yes, please!

Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2014{images via}

From braided head to knee-high heels with peeking toes, I love everything about the Rebecca Minkoff show and I mean everything.
