I hate to say it, but first impressions really matter. That is one reason why I really love fashion, because your clothes can speak for you. Without saying a word you can let people know a little bit about you simply by dressing to express yourself. But first impressions don’t just come from your outfit; your house can also give a first impression (more specifically, your doormat). It’s one of the first things people see when they come to your house, yet it’s often overlooked when people begin to decorate their home. Don’t forget that little doormat, because this small change can make all the difference in the world. Get inspired by some of my favorite doormats below.
I’ve always been a big fan of any type of metallic home decor. Silver and gold seem so glamorous and chic. Lately another color has been catching my eye; Copper. Whether it’s in the kitchen, bathroom, office, or outdoors I believe the right copper piece can really increase the appeal of any space. Copper has been trending recently and can be found in the most well designed homes.
Bedrooms are such a personal thing and that’s the very reason why they can be so much fun to decorate. The room becomes your comfort and your safe haven so it’s important to show a little of your personality in the way you design your bedroom. I love the way this one juxtaposes the feminine and bright floral bedding against the rustic brick wall. A brick wall is always a great back drop in home decor, but the print on this wall adds a little extra pizazz and the dress figure in the corner is tres chic. What’s your favorite part of this room? Tell me in the comments below!
First of all, a little side note: It’s been nearly a year since I’ve blogged and I know that’s quite a hiatus, but I’ve had a lot going on. Sorry for being so inconsistent! I realized how much I really missed blogging and I’m back at it now. I’m planning to make it permanent, so bare with me while I get everything set up again! =)
I’m one of those people who pretty much always has a candle burning. Having a dog and living in a house that is very, very old can leave my house smelling a little funky at times, but even before that I’ve always been a candle burner. It makes me feel so relaxed and cozy. My favorite scents are usually around the fall (think cinnamon, pumpkin, and nutmeg) so I’ve decided to share with you my top picks in candles for the season. Anything you think I’ve left off? Let me know in the comments, I’d love to try it out!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving day! Mine was full of fantastic food, family time, and special drinks! This year I have so much to be thankful for. One of those things is the pretty table setting I made for my family’s Turkey Day meal. It was pretty simple to put together but turned out to have some rustic elegance. I simply picked out a few various pumpkins, sprayed them with some sparkling gold glitter, and arranged them on top of a burlap table runner.
Of course there are many other things I am very thankful for this year. I am so thankful for the friendships I have that continue to grow even when I live miles and miles away from my friends, for the experiences I have had over the past year and the places I have been and seen, and for my family who always supports me no matter what I do.
I don’t know how the rest of you are feeling, but I just have to say that Thursday cannot come soon enough for me! Thanksgiving is such a fun holiday. It means time with family, lots of delicious food and what I consider the start to the holiday season. This year it seems like it is taking forever for the big turkey day to get here! While we are waiting for the arrival of Thanksgiving, take a peak at some of these fantastic goodies to make your Thanksgiving even more glamorous and fun! I mean, who wouldn’t love to carve the turkey with a golden knife?!
The colors associated with this time of year are often deeper and darker than the bright pastels of spring or golden yellows and aquatic blues of summer. (Think of the black and orange of Halloween). That’s why when I came across this brightly colored room a few weeks ago, it really caught my eye.
This adorable, sunny dining area is so cheerful it brings a smile to my face every time I look at the picture. The bright colors mixed with the stark white are so fantastic. I imagine that dinner conversations are more fun in a little nook like this one. Plus, I’m always crazy about a wall covered in a collage of art. There is so much to look at in this room and it would certainly be perfect for a fun, casual night entertaining friends.
In the same way that a pop of pink can be a great look for an outfit, adding touches of pink to any room can make the room feel fun, vibrant, and welcoming. I was first drawn to this room for the sofa, but I also love the shelving in the background. The book shelves look organized but usable, with the wicker baskets lining the bottom for storage and to conceal the less organized items. I’m also crazy about those black and gold lamps! They are a great shape and height!
What do you guys think of this room? Would you want to decorate your home office in this style?
I love the glamorous feel of this room. The soft colors, fur throw, and organized clutter make it an appealing environment. I always love anything lucite and this coffee table is fabulous! The couch, covered with pillows, looks so comfortable that I would love to kickback and relax with a magazine in the corner of this sectional. I’m not always a huge fan of sectionals, but it works well in this room. All of the elements combined make for a chic, sophisticated, and elegant room perfect for entertaining.
I also love the table in the background with the assortment of picture frames. It’s always fun to mix and match frames of different materials and sizes with pictures of family or memories from vacations.
I’ve decided to start another new series, sharing with everyone some fantastic inspiration for decorating your home. It doesn’t matter if you live in a tiny studio apartment, a condo, or a two story house, you can always make it fabulous with a few touches that reflect your personality. Sometimes all it takes is a little inspiration to get your creative energies flowing and the next thing you know, you’ve become an interior designer. I thought I would share with you all some rooms that I find to be inspiring and maybe you will love them as much as I do!
This room gives off a boho chic vibe with the meditating statues, snow leopard garden stools, navy rug, and velvet arm chairs. I’m totally crazy about the wall color, it mixes perfectly with the rosey pink in the stair railing and the matt of the painting in the top of this picture. I would definitely love to hang around in this room with friends and a few glasses of pink champagne!
I’m intrigued by the rest of the house and I really want to peek into the golden hallway in the background and make my way up those stairs to see the rest of the rooms which I’m positive are equally as fabulous! What do you guys think of this room?
